Igeekphone July 1 news, according to South Korean media Naver reported that Samsung’s upcoming flagship tablet Galaxy Tab S10 series will only launch Plus and Ultra versions, canceling the small-size standard version that has existed before.
The report pointed out that Samsung’s move is in response to Apple’s recent release of the first iPad Pro with an OLED screen. To counter that, Samsung will launch the Galaxy Tab S10 series of tablets with two screen sizes of 12.4 inches and 14.9 inches, and use the large AMOLED screen as a selling point to attract consumers. In contrast, the 2024 iPad Pro is available in both 11-inch and 13-inch options.
Many users may expect Samsung to open up a gap with Apple on price, but Samsung has made it clear in recent years that it will no longer rely solely on price wars to win consumers. However, Samsung does not seem to be completely ignoring cost control, with indications that the upcoming Galaxy Tab S10+ will be powered by Mediatek chips, rather than the Snapdragon processor unique to previous flagships. Similar to the strategy of the Galaxy S24 series, it is not ruled out that only the Ultra version will be equipped with Snapdragon chips globally.
The Galaxy Tab S10+ and Galaxy Tab S10 Ultra are expected to be released later this year, but won’t be on display at Samsung’s July 10 event. Igeekphone has noted that previously leaked renderings of the Ultra version have given a glimpse into the exterior design, and believes we’ll have more news on the new tablet in the coming weeks as development work continues.
