Qi2 wireless charging standard debuted in early 2023, this new standard achieves 15W wireless charging through the magnet on the device, and has been supported by many brands including Apple, Samsung, Google, LG and so on. However, while Apple has supported Qi2 wireless charging since the iPhone 12 series, the HMD Skyline is currently the only Android smartphone that supports Qi2 wireless charging. Google had planned to introduce Qi2 wireless charging in this year’s Pixel 9 series, but it ultimately failed to materialize.
However, the latest news shows that Samsung is expected to break this deadlock and take the lead in introducing the Qi2 wireless charging standard in the upcoming Galaxy S25 series. Samsung is expected to unveil the Galaxy S25, S25 + and S25 Ultra at its Unpacked event in the United States on January 22, and possibly even the Galaxy S25 Slim. In addition, there are rumors that Samsung will show off its new XR smart glasses at the event.
According to @Jukanloseve, IceUniverse confirmed that all Samsung Galaxy S25 will support Qi2 wireless charging. If the news is true, the Galaxy S25 series wireless charging power will be limited to 15W.
IGEEKPHONE notes that Samsung has yet to offer Qi2 wireless charging in any of its released smartphones, but there is a Qi2-compatible wearable: the Galaxy Ring.
