The Samsung Galaxy S9 series was released this year in two different models on the market. We got the regular S9 and the larger S9 Plus. According to a Bloomberg report, that does not apply to the Galaxy S10 and we also get a cheaper third smartphone in the series.
To offer counter-gas to Huawei, among others, who also released a Lite-model of the P20-series and the Mate 20-series, Samsung would soon also come with a comparable smartphone. According to the report, this is at the expense of some functions that we will see on the regular S10 and S10 Plus. For example, the cheaper smartphone in the S10 series does not have curved screen edges. The fingerprint sensor under the screen should be present on the cheaper model.
Bloomberg also reports that the series will again be fitted with an OLED screen and that the edges will become even smaller. At the rear, we find three cameras, while the front camera may be hidden behind the screen. Earlier, the rumor of the in-display front camera also surfaced, but it remains to be seen whether Samsung has the technology ready in time for the new generation of smartphones. The 3.5mm headphone jack may disappear. However, there should be built-in 5G support on the new Samsung Galaxy S10 series.
The Bloomberg noted also that Samsung is also talking with Verizon about launching the “ Galaxy S10” in the U.S. as a 5G device. Longer-term, the company’s anticipated foldable phone is reportedly in its “final stretch,” the debate being whether its display will unfold horizontally or vertically. Designers are said to favor the vertical option, which would be easier to hold with one hand.
