Samsung Galaxy Fold 2 is expected to be officially released on August 5 along with the Galaxy Note 20, Note 20 Plus, and the new Galaxy Z Flip. Rumors of the Galaxy Fold 2 report that the device will receive several improvements over last year’s original. Details of its external and internal devices were already seeping into the Web. Now that the device has passed the Chinese 3C certification, details about the battery have become known.
According to the documentation, the Galaxy Fold 2 battery will have a maximum charging capacity of approximately 4500mAh. Like the previous model, the device will consist of two parts. Recall: the original Galaxy Fold came with a 2135mAh EB-BF900ABU battery and 2245mAh EB-BF901ABU battery (total charging capacity – 4380mAh).
Recent leaks show that the SM-F916 and SM-F917 are Galaxy Fold 2 code numbers. They lit up with 3C certification and showed that the new smartphone will receive a 2090mAh EB-BF916ABY and 2275mAh EB-BF197ABY batteries. (The total charging capacity is 4365mAh).
Maybe an LTPO backplane?
To claim to benefit from better autonomy, the Galaxy Fold 2 will have to focus its efforts on better optimization and a more efficient chipset in terms of energy consumption. In addition, the manufacturer could opt for LTPO backplanes for the screens of the Fold 2, in order to save between 15 to 20% of energy.
The original Galaxy Fold came with a 7.3-inch main display and a small 4.6-inch display on the outside cover. Rumors of a successor model show that the Galaxy Fold 2 will receive a larger 7.7-inch bendable display and a large 6.23-inch external screen. Both displays are reportedly using Infinity-O (that is, they differ in minimal frames around and perforation under the camera). It is also rumored that the main display supports a refresh rate of 120 Hz.
In addition to the model with a 512GB drive, it is expected that the Galaxy Fold 2 will also be released in the version with 256GB of memory. It is unlikely that there will be support for the digital pen S Pen. The main camera of the phone can receive a 12MP conventional module, a 64MP telephoto module, and an ultra-wide-angle 16MP module. The output is expected in black and brown colors.
