Samsung has already started presenting its phones for 2021 at the end of November, with the Galaxy A12 and A02s, made official this Tuesday (24). Both are low-cost models, which boast long-lasting batteries, a multi-camera system, and a large display. We are going to see the specifications and technical characteristics of these models, which come to complete the most economical range of Samsung.
The differences between the two are quite evident, ranging from the rear finish, with a kind of four-tone gradient on the Galaxy A12 and A02s, which still has a smooth bottom. In addition, the first has a triple set of cameras at the rear, against four in the second.
The Samsung Galaxy A12 and A02s share many of their features, the main difference being the camera. Both have a 6.5-inch TFT panel with HD + resolution and ‘Infinity-V’ panel, in relation to the ‘notch’ shaped like a drop of water that is located in the upper central area and where they hide the front camera.
Inside they have an octa-core processor, with cores at 2.3 and 1.8 GHz. As usual, Samsung does not specify what specific model it is, but according to GSMArena, it would be an Helio P35 in the Galaxy A12 and a Snapdragon 450 in the Galaxy A02s.
As for RAM, the Galaxy A12 will come in different versions, from 3GB to 6GB. We will also have three storage options: 32,64 and 128GB, expandable by microSD up to 1TB. We would have liked the 2021 input range to start from 64GB, but we understand that it is a component where costs can be saved. For security, the fingerprint reader is placed on the side.
In the Galaxy A02s model, we will have a single version with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of storage, also expandable via microSD card.
Where there has been a big jump is in the drums. The Galaxy A12 arrives with 5000mAh and a 15W charge. The Galaxy A02s model also incorporates these 5000mAh with the same “fast” charge. An even more significant change since its previous generation started at 3000mAh.
For the photographic section, the Galaxy A12 has a 48MP main sensor, accompanied by a 13MP wide-angle and two extra cameras for macro and bokeh. They are placed in a small box in the upper left corner and also represent a jump from the 13MP camera of the Galaxy A11. That is precisely the level where the Galaxy A02s falls, which incorporates a 13MP main sensor along with two 2MP cameras. This time, placed in an upright position.
Pricing and availability
The Galaxy A12 should arrive in stores first, with sales expected to start in Europe in January 2021. The 64GB model will cost 179 euros (US$212.75), while the 128GB model will cost 199 euros (US$ 236.52), respectively. It can be found in black, white, and blue, in addition to red, which should be restricted to other markets.
The Galaxy A02s should only start to be sold in February, in black and white colors, for 150 euros (approximately US$ 178.28). In other markets, it will also be possible to find the model in blue and red. More information about the date and launch in other markets should be released in the coming weeks by Samsung in each country.
