According to the media website 1prime, Russian President Vladimir Putin has signed a bill that limits the amount of nicotine products that are not marked as complying with Russian law that can be carried by individuals on Russian territory and has now been published on the official legal information portal.
This bill sets limits on the number of unlabeled nicotine products that individuals can carry in order to comply with the provisions of Russian law.
According to the annexes provided by the bill, the illicit market for nicotine liquids and disposable nicotine delivery devices (disposable e-cigarettes) has grown by an average of 20 percent per year and already accounts for about 90 percent of the total market for such products in Russia by mid-2022.
The law aims to crack down on the illegal trade in similar products.
According to the document, individuals over the age of 18 can now carry no more than 200 heated tobacco products, no more than 5 units of other nicotine-containing products (excluding heated tobacco products) and a total of no more than 20 ml of nicotine-containing liquid. At the same time, there is also a limit on the total weight of unlabeled non-tobacco heated mixtures transported, which cannot exceed 250 grams.
These restrictions are similar to the current regulations on tobacco products, which currently allow individuals over the age of 18 to carry no more than 200 unmarked cigarettes or 50 unmarked cigars within the territory of Russia.
In addition, the total weight of tobacco products carried must not exceed 250 grams per person.
