Recently, the Russian Parliament newspaper quoted the news service of the United Russia Party as saying that the Russian Ministry of Health plans to complete the list of flavoring additives prohibited in electronic cigarette oil before September 1.
On April 11 this year, the Russian State Duma passed a law aimed at banning certain e-cigarette flavor additives. According to Maxim Topilin, chairman of the State Duma’s economic Policy Committee, the government should approve the corresponding banned list by September 1.
On July 18, during the plenary session of the State Duma, Health Minister Mikhail Murashko was questioned:
“How does the government plan to implement this regulation (list of flavoring additives)? After all, September 1 is fast approaching.”
Mikhail thanked the State Duma for the law passed, adding that efforts must continue to combat the smoking problem. He said the list would be published by September 1.
He added:
“Our working group is working on that. If you’re interested, you can join in.”
Artem Metelev, chairman of the State Duma’s youth policy committee, noted on social media that the best approach would be for the Health Ministry to ban any flavor additives.
“Important decisions are expected from the Ministry of Health. Why? In order to remove from the market the most attractive additives that lead to nicotine addiction.”
