Reliance Jio is developing a new low-cost version of the 5G smartphone. Previously, the company launched the Jio Phone Next mobile phone, which uses a 4G chip to create an experience for new users who buy their first smartphone. Now that Reliance Jio Phone 5G is rolling out to consumers in India, the company will also launch the Jio Phone 5G affordable handset.
Jio Phone 5G has appeared on the Geekbench benchmark website, and the device model is LS1654QB5. It scored 549 and 1661 in the single-core and multi-core tests on Geekbench.
The Reliance Jio Phone 5G is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon SoC codenamed “Holi”, which is expected to be a Snapdragon 480+ chip, an entry-level budget 5G mobile platform. The Snapdragon 480+ chip contains eight Kryo 460 cores up to 2.2 GHz, Adreno 619 GPU, and a Snapdragon X51 5G modem.
Qualcomm has an investment in Jio and the two have been a partnership since the launch of Jio Phone Next last year.
The Jio Phone 5G smartphone will be equipped with 4GB of RAM and is expected to offer at least 64GB of storage. Apart from that, the phone will run Android 12-based PragatiOS. The UI is customized for the Indian user base and supports several local languages.
