After launching the K30 late last year, Xiaomi is said to be developing a successor to this phone, called the Redmi K40. Recently, leakster @techyvillage has just posted a new article on Twitter, thereby revealing the specifications of Redmi K40 just before the launch date.
According to the source, Redmi K40 will switch to using the high-end 5G processor Dimensity 1000 of MediaTek. One of the chip’s strengths is its support for a 144Hz screen. Therefore, it is likely that the K40 will be equipped with a screen with a corresponding scanning frequency, although it is just an LCD screen like the previous generation.
The Redmi K40 is rumored to have a Sony IMX686 main camera with a resolution of 64MP on the back. In addition, it also supports 5G network connection and this smartphone will have the same fast charging speed of 33W as the Redmi K30 Pro. Previously, the phone was found on the website of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of China with model number M2006J10C.
At the moment we don’t know how many models the series will have, but there is expected to be the basic version, the K40 Pro, and maybe some lite model. Currently, the launch date of the Redmi K40 is still a mystery, we still have to wait for new information in the coming days.
Why 1000 Dimension?
Interestingly, in the past, there have been rumors that the Redmi K40 will use the Snapdragon 775 or Snapdragon 690 processor.
This is the first 5G chipset in the Snapdragon 600 series that supports 5G network connectivity. But because the Redmi K series is in the high-end segment and the K40 is a 5G smartphone, using the processor of the Snapdragon 600 series will make it difficult for the Redmi K40 to compete with high-end smartphones from other manufacturers, not only affect sales but also brand equity.
Therefore, it is highly likely that Redmi K40 will use MediaTek’s Dimension 1000 chip and this is a quite reasonable assumption. If you do not know, Dimensity 1000 is a new generation 5G chipset, supports dual-mode 5G, promising to give users a faster and more stable network access experience. Besides, it also has energy-saving technology, with the world’s lowest 5G battery consumption and longer battery life.
