During the event just ended, Redmi unveiled both K30 4G and K30 5G. Between the two terminals, besides the obvious difference in connectivity, there are really very few differences: the SoC (therefore CPU and GPU) and fast charging. Let’s look at the main technical specifications and prices in China of Redmi K30 5G, then those of the 4G version announced during the official presentation.
The Redmi K30 4G and K30 5G are jointly installed on a 6.67-inch FHD + IPS LCD display, 20: 9 aspect ratio and 120Hz refresh rate which brings incredibly high fluency not only in games but also in menus or in the browser. The front and rear panels are protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 5. The Redmi K30 also has a 3D curved design to provide comfort while holding the device.
When it comes to performance, the Redmi K30 5G is powered by the Snapdragon 765G, which was introduced last week and came out of the 7-nm production process. This high-performance gaming processor connects the phone effectively to 5G networks with its integrated 5G modem design.
The K30 4G is powered by the Snapdragon 730, which comes from the 8-nm production process. Both models are available with 6GB / 8GB RAM and 64GB / 128GB / 256GB storage which is possible extendable via microSD.
Let’s get the camera. In front of both devices is a dual camera, 20MP+ 2MP depth. There is a small difference behind it. The K30 5G features a 64MP F1.89 + 2MP depth + 5MP macro + 8MP ultra-wide-angle camera with a Sony IMX686 sensor. The Redmi K30 4G has 64MP + 2MP + 2MP + 8MP ultra-wide-angle camera setup. These smartphones that can capture 4K 30 fps video can output up to 120 fps in 1080P.
Both versions run MIUI 11 based on Android 10, have a fingerprint side sensor and feature a 4500mAh battery with fast charge support. The Redmi K30 5G supports 30W acceleration allowing full charge within 66 minutes. On the other hand, the 4G version supports 27W acceleration. Other specifications included are 3.5mm audio jack, dual GPS frequency, NFC, Bluetooth 5.0 and Hi-Res audio support.
The Redmi K30 5G comes in 4 different variants. The price of 6GB / 64GB is 1999 yuan (about US$ 284) and the 6GB / 128GB version is priced at 2299 yuan (US$326). As for the 8GB RAM versions, the small 128GB storage is priced at 2599 yuan (US$369) and the price of the larger 256GB storage is 2899 yuan (US$411).
The Redmi K30 4G comes also in 4 different variants. The price of 6GB / 64GB is 1599 yuan (US$227) and the 6GB / 128GB version is priced at 1699 yuan (US$241). As for the 8GB RAM versions, the small 128GB storage is priced at 1899 yuan (US$269) and the price of the larger 256GB storage is 2199 yuan (US$312).
Redmi K30 5G will be available for purchase in January 2020. The 4G model will be on sale in China from December 12th. These phones are offered in Purple Jade, Deep Sea Gleam, White and Reddish Orange.
