In September last year, ZTE took the lead in launching the under-screen camera technology in the industry. After nearly a year, the under-screen camera technology is expected to usher in an explosive period. Today, a well-known Chinese blogger Digital Chat Station claimed that the first smartphone with an under-screen camera of Redmi is already in development.
The prototype’s screen size is 6.7 inches with Full HD + resolution and supports a high refresh rate. But it will hit the market next year and some netizens speculate that this new device may be the Redmi K50 series.
It is worth noting that Xiaomi expects to mass-produce commercial under-screen camera technology in the second half of this year, and the first model may be a new product of the MIX series. In addition, Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 will also use an under-screen camera, as the best solution for the full-screen era.
The application of under-screen camera technology will finally bring the era of punch-hole screens to a successful conclusion. However, manufacturers have to perfect the shooting capability of the camera. If the camera performance is not up to par, then we might just still be tucked with the punch-hole solution.
