Routers that provide Wi-Fi 6 support are not the cheapest. Until now, because the Chinese brand Redmi belonging to Xiaomi has just presented an extremely affordable model. The Redmi AX5 Wi-Fi 6 router went on sale in China, the price was set at 229 yuan (about $35).
n detail, this new Redmi AX5 is presented as an inexpensive router, capable of bringing us closer to the advantages of WiFi 6 technology at a fairly reduced price. Inside it has a 4-core processor A53 at 1.2GHz and an NPU at 1.5GHz.
In combination with this powerful Qualcomm processor, 256MB of memory is added. This high capacity allows the Redmi AX5 to manage up to a total of 128 different devices simultaneously and independently.
Compared to a WiFi AC router, the new Redmi Router AX5 is capable of a top speed of up to 1,775Mbps. This is achieved thanks to the WiFi 6 support capable of combining the two bands of 2.4GHz and 5GHz, thus achieving 52% more speed compared to a conventional router.
Furthermore, the Redmi AX5 adds Mesh support, allowing us to combine two or more routers in order to achieve a wide mesh network. With this, we can ensure that WiFi coverage reaches any corner of our home.
As it could not be less in a router with WiFi 6, this new Xiaomi model adds OFDMA, a multiplexing technology capable of transmitting several signals in one. From the rest, we find a router equipped with Beamforming, WPA 3 encryption, BSS Coloring, and a total of 4dB antennas.
The price of this new Redmi AX5 Wi-Fi 6 router is just 229 yuan (about $35). Without a doubt, a really attractive price that is on par with other routers that only accept WiFi 5 technology, that is, the 802.11ac standard.
