Recently, another novelty began to be sold in the form of the Realme 8i model, which is basically the second cheapest smartphone of this Chinese brand. The paper parameters are almost unbelievable. 50MPx camera, 120Hz display and battery with a capacity of 5000 mAh.

Design
The phone has slightly rounded edges, so even with a size of 6.6 “inches, it sits comfortably in the palm of your hand. The large display is disturbed only by a small circular cutout of the Selfie in the upper left corner. On the back of the phone is a dominant camera panel, where we find three sensors with LED flash. The lenses protrude slightly from the back, so there is a risk of abrasion without the cover. Fortunately, Realme also supplies basic plastic packaging. The display also has a protective foil from the factory, which will definitely please the phone in this price category as well. It is basically just another larger model covered with plastics and a more distinctive set of cameras on the back. Due to the larger dimensions (164.1 x 75.5 x 8.5 mm), the phone also has a higher weight (194 grams).
Display
The phone is equipped with a 6.6 “IPS display with a resolution of 1,080 x 2,412 pixels and an aspect ratio of 20: 9. Unfortunately, the manufacturer does not state what type of tempered glass is used in the model. It has at least a cover film glued to the base. In short, it is such a standard in this respect, but fortunately Realme has one important ace up his sleeve. It is a 120Hz refresh rate, which makes the Realme 8i perhaps the cheapest model with this technology in this regard. It will especially delight game players, but it also looks great when browsing the phone or browsing in the Internet browser or on social networks. The display also has a front shot for a selfie camera in the upper left corner.
Hardware
The Realme 8i is equipped with the new MediaTek Helio G96 chip, successor to the popular G95. This new chip is based on a 12nm manufacturing process and is clocked up to 2.05 GHz. Seconded here by 6 GB of LPDDR4X RAM, we have a very smooth performance.
Cameras
Although the main sensor has a resolution of 50 MPx, it uses pixel pooling to create images with a resolution of 12.5 MPx. However, it is also possible to activate the 50 MPx mode and take pictures in full resolution. Unfortunately, the equipment lacks a wide-angle camera, and on the contrary, the depth sensor or macro lens will not bring you much benefit, mainly due to the low resolution.
The main sensor during the day takes pictures quite nicely. The photos are sharp, faithful in color and lack detail. Paradoxically, the results of the 50MP mode seemed a bit worse to me than the classic 12.5 MPx photos. Unfortunately, the macro sensor is more in number here, because the main lens can handle quite a nice macro with sufficient sharpness and a lot of detail. This cannot be said about a 2MPx macro lens.
Battery
The Realme 8i has a battery capacity of 5000 mAh which allows it to last in rather moderate use for a little over a day with the display frequency set to automatic mode. This means that if you stay in 60 Hz, we can get more and less if we go continuously to 120 Hz. Too bad the battery only supports a load at 18 watts, today, the minimum while the Realme 8 offers the possibility of faster charging at 30 watts.
OS
Regarding the software part, the Realme 8i runs under Realme UI 2.0, which is itself based on Android 11. Obviously, there are many customization options specific to Realme: wallpapers, setting the size and style of icons, animation between pages, etc.
