At the very beginning of 2018, shortly after the CES, an internal source of Razer could confirm the development of the Razer Phone 2, with a release scheduled for the end of the year. As this deadline approaches, we can learn more about its characteristics.
An authentic site spotted the results of a test on Geekbench for a supposed Razer Phone 2. It reads that the code name of the device would be cheryl2, which is consistent since the first smartphone of the brand had as name code “cheryl”.
According to this test, the Razer Phone 2 would integrate a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 with 8GB of RAM, allowing it to obtain a score of 2026 points with a heart, and 8234 points in multicore. It can also be noted that the phone runs Android 8.1 Oreo, which may imply a close release. Otherwise, we would be disappointed not to see Android 9.0 Pie shipped by default.
If the first Razer Phone had managed to stand out thanks to the use of a 120 Hz screen, it is still a pity that the brand is again one of the last to adopt the Snapdragon 845. As last year with the Snapdragon 835, the Razer Phone 2 should not offer better performance than its competitors released several months earlier.

According to Roland Quandt’s sources, the Razer Phone 2 is likely to feature multicolored Razer Chroma LED lights. Behind this name hides the possibility offered by the manufacturer to customize the color of the LED lights and even to create light effects by varying the colors.
A feature specific to the player market that can also be found on Nubia’s Red Magic. In the case of Razer, this LED could be configured to turn on with notifications.
