As if bringing Android 12L to the nine-year-old Nexus 7 wasn’t enough, one developer has ported the latest version of the mobile operating system to Raspberry PI 4, according to 9to5 Google.
Raspberry PI is already one of the champions of home-made computing, the backbone of many home automation projects, media servers, and the perfect simulation station for classic games. It is rare, however, for raspberry PI owners to go the Android route. Developer Konsta has been responsible for porting Android to previous models, and their latest effort is bringing Android 12L to the Raspberry Pi 4 Model B.
As one might expect, this port is not perfect in the traditional sense. There were some bugs related to video decoding, and many of the official Raspberry Pi camera accessories didn’t work properly. This includes additional camera modules and a built-in camcorder.
The Raspberry PI port for Android 12L is based on LineageOS 19.1, including the latest security patch from March 2022. One important benefit is that this version is also compatible with the Raspberry Pi 400, a Mini ARM PC.

Android 12L on the Raspberry PI isn’t the only feat to be praised, as the developers also ported Android TV 12 to the Mini ARM PC.
