This evening, the blogger Digital Chat Station revealed that there are three brands that want to grab the Snapdragon 8 Gen2 for the first launch, and the fastest will be in November. Two of them are known to be Xiaomi and Moto, and the other is unknown. Netizens speculate that it may be the real me.
Previously, Xiaomi got the starting rights of the Snapdragon 8+, and moto got the starting rights of the Snapdragon 8. Although I did not get the starting rights, the new phones are usually released soon after the Snapdragon 8 series platform is unveiled, so it is not ruled out. It is possible for me to get the starting rights of the Snapdragon 8 Gen2.
It is reported that the Snapdragon 8 Gen2 super core is upgraded to Cortex X3, the large core is upgraded to Cortex A715, and the small core is still Cortex A510.
Among them, Cortex X3 and Cortex A715 are upgraded versions of Cortex X2 and Cortex A710 respectively, both of which are 64-bit cores. And Arm has abandoned the AArch32 instruction set on both the Cortex-X3 and Cortex-A715, which means a full switch to a 64-bit architecture.
Compared with Cortex X2, Cortex X3 has 22% higher performance and 11% higher IPC; Cortex A715 and Cortex A710, under the same power level and manufacturing process, have 5% higher performance and 20% higher energy efficiency.
Arm said that the Cortex A715 has reached the performance level of the Cortex X1, and with the improved small core, it will be of great help for mid-range processors. Unsurprisingly, the starting rights of the Snapdragon 8 Gen2 will be born among the three brands Xiaomi, moto, and Zhenwo.
