At the 4G/5G summit held in Hong Kong today, Qualcomm officially released the new Snapdragon 675 mobile platform. Although the naming looks similar to the 670, the architecture and the process are all changed. Upgrade to the fourth generation Kryo CPU architecture, built on the 11nm LPP process. Both the Snapdragon 670 and the Snapdragon 710 used the third-generation Kyro 360 architecture.
Qualcomm claims that the Snapdragon 675 has improved in terms of games and camera AI compared to the Snapdragon 670. Among them, game startup increased by 30%, web browsing increased by 35%, music loading increased by 20%, and social application startup increased by 15%. The Snapdragon 670 features an eight-core design (2 large + 6 small combinations). Two of the performance core frequencies are 2.0 GHz, and the six performance core frequencies are 1.7 GHz. The GPU aspect integrates Adreno 612. Qualcomm said that the Snapdragon 675 can be optimized to reduce the game’s stuck and dropped FPS.
In addition, Qualcomm has optimized for a number of specific games, including King Glory, while game engines such as Unity, Unreal, Messiah, and NeoX are also underlying optimization. AI performance is the focus of Snapdragon 675. Qualcomm said that with the new AI engine, the Snapdragon 675 achieved a 50% improvement in AI performance. In addition, the Hexagon 685 DSP upgrades the new security solution to further enhance the security of face unlocking.
At the same time, the Snapdragon 675 also integrates the Spectra 250L ISP, which supports up to 25MP single lenses and 16MP dual lenses. At the same time support 480fps@720p slow-motion film shooting, support 48MP photo output, support 5x optical zoom, 2.5 times wide angle and super wide angle. The Modem is X12 LTE, supporting Cat 15, up to 600Mpbs downlink rate and triple carrier aggregation.
The CPU of the Snapdragon 675 is still a 2 core + 6 small core architecture, but the large core architecture has been upgraded from the previous Cortex-A75-based Kyro 360 to the Cortex-A76-based Kyro 460. The frequency is still 2 GHz, but Qualcomm claims that its APP is booting. The speed has increased by 15%, and the performance of web browsing has increased by 35%. These should be changes brought by the architecture upgrade.
The six small cores are based on the Cortex-A55’s Kyro 460 architecture and the frequency is increased to 1.8GHz.
As for the GPU architecture, Qualcomm has not announced what GPU is integrated with the Snapdragon 675, but it is still based on the Adreno 61X series. Anandtech speculates that it is the Adreno 615 or 616 series.
Although the GPU specification will not be greatly improved, Qualcomm mentioned that the Snapdragon 675 has been enhanced by some software in the game, reducing the janks by 90% – these things do not know the specific details, the guess is similar to Huawei GPU Turbo The acceleration mechanism of the two is very similar, and it is not necessary to look at the explanations in the future.
In terms of taking pictures, the Snapdragon 675 is still the Spectra 250 ISP, but the MIPI CSI interface has been added, support for three shots, support for wide-angle, telephoto and super wide-angle lenses, and 5x optical zoom – more to say, Huawei Similar designs are on the Mate 20 series phones, and it seems that other manufacturers will follow up next year.
In addition to the architectural changes, another change in the Snapdragon 675 is the 11nm LPP process, which is an improved process from Samsung, 14nm and 10nm hybrid process, similar to the 10nm LPP process, but at a lower cost.
