According to Qualcomm@Quacomm China, Qualcomm and ZTE have recently completed testing and achieved a new milestone of 5G millimeter Wave (mmWave). The two sides successfully demonstrated important features required for China’s 5G millimeter-wave deployment in order to match and support the requirements of the imt-2020 (5G) propellant group for 5G millimeter-wave testing and deployment supporting 200MHz carrier bandwidth.
The test was conducted using a smartphone-shaped test terminal equipped with flagship Snapdragon X65, as well as network infrastructure equipment such as ZTE’s MILLImeter-wave AAU, demonstrating China’s important progress towards the commercialization of 5G millimeter-wave.
Qualcomm Snapdragon X65 5G modem (baseband chip) was officially released in early 2021, using 4nm process manufacturing, is the world’s first 10Gbps 5G speed chip. The X65 baseband supports millimeter wave communication in 5G independent networking (SA) mode and supports bands such as 28GHz and 39GHz.
Qualcomm previously said that the X65 chip can realize sub-6ghz, high band millimeter wave connection at the same time, dual band concurrent data transmission. The completion of 5G millimeter wave testing by Qualcomm and ZTE indicates that the service is expected to be rolled out in the Chinese mainland to achieve faster connection speeds.
