Roulette is no doubt one of the most played games at casinos. The first two major variations were the European and American. The European version is the most popular variant of the game though the American version is still well played by a large population.
A lot has changed since the first Roulette version was released online. There are now many different variations of online roulette. These are our favourites.
European Roulette
European Roulette is the most commonly played online variant of the game. It has a total of 37 numbers which are 0 to 36. Numbers from 1 to 36 have either red or black backgrounds while the number “0” has a green background.
The game starts after all the players have placed their bets. The main goal in the game is to correctly guess the number pocket which the ball would land on. After this, the online dealer spins. The wheel is spun in a different direction from the ball. The ball finds its way into a numbered pocket and each player is paid respectively.
It has a house edge of 2.70% which is lower than many other variations available. This means the RTP is 97.30%. That is, the player can get $97.30 back for every $100 wagered.
American Roulette
This is the second most popular variant. It shares many similarities with the European Roulette. The major difference is the two additional zeros in this variant. The number “0” and the additional “00” are found at the opposite sides of the wheel.
There are a total of 38 divisions which is from 0 to 36 and the “00”. The gameplay is carried out just like the European roulette and you have to predict the pocket on which the ball would land.
The additional number causes a change in the house edge of the game. American Roulette has a house edge of 5.26%. Thus, it has a lower RTP of 94.74% which is below the Industry’s average. This means you can get $94.74 for every $100 wagered.
Mini Roulette
This variant came after the arrival of online Roulette and is not so popular. It has fewer divisions and less betting options when compared to most of the other variants. The wheel has slots that are numbered 0 to 12 only. The background for the odd numbers is red while even numbers have a black background. On the other hand, the number “0” comes with a green background.
The payout structure is also different like the betting structure. Players have greater chances of landing the ball on zero because the numbers are not so much. The house edge of the game is 3.85% which leaves the return to player rate at 96.15%.
No Zero Roulette
Just like the name suggests, this variant of online roulette has no zero. The divisions are from 1 to 36. The lack of 0 makes the house edge totally removed. This makes playing this game so interesting. Players have more opportunities to make major wins in this game than other roulette versions. For No Zero Roulette, the probability of winning a single bet is 35 -1.
However, it may not be as simple as it seems. There are terms attached to it by many online casinos. For example, there’s always a 10% commission on all payouts and the maximum bet is restricted. The commission charged by these online casinos reduces your payout. If you make a $100 win on a $100 bet, you’ll only get $90 in profit.
Roulette Royale
Roulette Royale is quite similar to European Roulette but it includes a progressive jackpot feature. This progressive jackpot feature is activated when the player hits the same number five times continuously. The variant was developed by Microgaming and is one of the most played roulette versions from the developer.
It has 37 number pockets on the wheels which make the house edge higher than the American Roulette. It has different betting options. The payouts received for bets are standard. The line bets pay 5:1, the square bets pay 8:1 while the street bets pay 11:1. It also has the winning splits which pay 17:1 and the straight bet on a single number which is the highest paying – it pays 35:1.
