After more than four years of development and a total of six generations, which were never published, Oppo is finally launching its first foldable, the OPPO Find N Foldable Phone.
Design & Build
Even at first glance, and even more so upon closer inspection, it becomes obvious: Oppo has not launched a prototype, but also an absolutely mature series model. Thanks to the special hinge and the flexible display, which consists of 12 individual layers, the smartphone has a very long service life. At the same time, the annoying kink in the middle of the OLED disappears almost completely. Due to its compact design, the Oppo Find N also has a comfortable size of 132.6 x 73.0 x 15.9 mm. The weight is also comparatively low at 275 g. Other foldable are far bulkier.
Dual Screen
The main attraction of the Oppo Find N is the two built-in displays. When folded, there is a 5.5-inch panel on the front, just 0.1 inches more than the current iPhone Mini. The compact form factor is made possible by the comparatively small front display. However, if the smartphone is opened, an attractively large display opens up with a size of 7.1 inches. The manufacturer from China relies on OLED panels, both outside and inside, which offer a resolution of 1972 x 988 pixels and 1792 x 1920 pixels. The screens both offer 800 nits of brightness. However, there are differences in terms of speed. The front panel offers a refresh rate of 60 Hz and a sampling rate of 240 Hz.
Square, practical, perfect
The Oppo Find N aims to do better than the Samsung Galaxy Fold, Samsung Galaxy Flip, or Xiaomi Fold. The smartphone from the Far East has the potential to do so with a rollable display, an exceptionally good camera, and an intelligent display concept including the appropriate software support. The built-in hardware is also at the top level. The technical masterpiece from Oppo is now available from Trading Shenzhen at a low price.
Hardware
Only the best is good enough for the Oppo Find N. Nothing less than a Snapdragon 888 slumbers inside. The Octa-Core CPU clocks up to 2.84 GHz and is accompanied by an Adreno 660 GPU. Supplemented by a more than generous 8 GB of LPDDR5 RAM, current apps will not be able to exhaust the smartphone. In terms of performance, the Oppo Find N is well prepared for the future. The same applies to internal storage. Because a total of 256 GB UFS 3.1 ROM is waiting to be filled with games or other applications.
Cameras
On the camera side, there is a 50-megapixel main camera (Sony IMX766), a 16-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera, and a 13-megapixel telephoto camera (probably with 2-3x optical zoom). Thanks to the foldable format, the triple camera can also be used for selfies, otherwise, there are also two 32 MP “front cameras” installed.
ColorOS 12
In addition, the manufacturer has adapted the ColorOS 12 user interface so that compatible applications such as the Music, Notes, and Camera apps run in split-screen folding mode. For example, the Find N can be used as a kind of mini laptop in the notes app. When using the camera, it can act as a tripod for hands-free time-lapse photography or video calls.
Battery & Other Features
There is also a 4,500 mAh battery that can be fully charged with up to 33 watts via Super VOOC in 70 minutes (55% in 30 minutes). Alternatively, the Oppo Find N can also be charged wirelessly with up to 15 watts via Air VOOC (compatible with Qi). Other features include a fingerprint sensor on the side of the power button and stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos. However, the Find N lacks an IP rating.
