In an effort to take advantage of Huawei’s market share, in addition to expanding its presence in Europe, OPPO officially introduced the OPPO A74 5G and A54 5G smartphones to the European market. Both devices are capable of working on cellular networks of the fifth generation, but at the same time, they are very affordable.
Already launched in countries like the Philippines, and even in Italy, in Europe itself, the OPPO A74 5G and A54 5G share basically all specifications. Both arrive equipped with Snapdragon 480 5G chipset, designed to bring 5G to basic phones, accompanied by a 6.5 inch Full HD + IPS LCD screen, with a resolution of 2400 x 1080 pixels and a refresh rate of 90 Hz.
The devices do not stand out visually speaking, and offer traditional design from a modern intermediary. The edges are relatively thin, with the exception of the base of the panel, which is thicker, and there is a hole in the upper left corner to house the camera for selfies. At the rear, the OPPO logo is positioned vertically in the lower-left corner, while the module with four cameras is at the opposite end.
The first difference appears in the color options: OPPO A74 5G and A54 5G arrive in Fluid Black (black) and Space Silver (silver), but the A54 can also be found in Fantastic Purple, bringing a glossy finish with a gradient hue that starts in purple at the top and goes gradually turning green as you approach the base of the device.
Speaking of cameras, the OPPO A74 5G and A54 5G has a 16MP front lens, in addition to a quadruple rear camera with a 48MP main sensor, 8MP ultra-wide, 2MP macro, and an auxiliary depth sensor as well 2MP. The smartphones also feature Wi-Fi 5, Bluetooth 5.1, a digital reader built into the power button, and run Android 11, under ColorOS 11.1.
Despite being practically identical, the OPPO A74 5G and A54 5G still show some minor differences. The most important of these is in the memories: the simplest model arrives on the European market with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage, while the most robust device brings 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. Fortunately, both support expansion via MicroSD card.
Another point of difference is in the battery: even though the two phones offer a 5000mAh tank, only the A74 5G has a fast-charging of 18W. The A54 5G takes longer to recover the charge, using a charger of only 10W. Finally, the A74 is the only one with NFC.
The OPPO A74 5G and A54 5G are now available for purchase across Europe, with a suggested price of 269 euros (about $322) and 299 euros (something around $359), respectively. It is not yet known whether the devices will reach more markets.
