OpenAI today announced a new ChatGPT product that specifically addresses the needs of enterprise users and provides increased security and privacy. In its blog post, OpenAI said ChatGPT Enterprise Edition not only provides unlimited and fast access to the powerful GPT-4 model, but also deeper data analysis to help businesses make sense of information quickly, and can ask ChatGPT more complex questions.
Many businesses use ChatGPT fearing that their data will be used to train GPT-4 models, or that sensitive customer information may be accidentally revealed when using the tool. To address these issues, OpenAI says that ChatGPT Enterprise users have full control and ownership of their own data, and that the data will not be used to train GPT-4 models. In addition, OpenAI plans to roll out more features, such as letting users customize ChatGPT’s knowledge of enterprise data and providing more advanced analytics tools. Moreover, the company will also offer a ChatGPT Enterprise pricing plan suitable for small teams.
According to OpenAI, this is ChatGPT’s first enterprise-oriented product and is separate from ChatGPT and ChatGPT Plus. Businesses already using ChatGPT can choose to continue using their current product or switch to ChatGPT Enterprise Edition to enjoy the new features. OpenAI says it will take on as many enterprise users as possible in the coming weeks.
Many organizations have developed a variety of generative AI tools using OpenAI and GPT-4 models, but many connect to GPT-4 models through apis or cloud services. IT House notes that some enterprises are starting to create their own large language model systems in order to protect their data from the GPT-4 model, but this can be difficult for smaller companies. As a result, there are vendors trying to provide data security and privacy protections when accessing large language models like GPT-4, especially in more regulated industries that want to use generative AI tools while protecting sensitive data. As OpenAI launches its ChatGPT product for enterprises, these vendors may face more competition.
Recently, OpenAI also announced the opening of custom fine-tuning capabilities for the GPT-3.5 model, allowing users to customize ChatGPT for specific tasks, which seems to be in preparation for larger scale enterprise services.
