According to new data, in the upcoming OnePlus Z smartphone, the manufacturer uses the Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, not the MediaTek Dimensity 1000, as previously reported. The information was posted by a Twitter user hiding under the nickname @MaxJmb. It was he who previously shared information that OnePlus Z will be released in July.
According to information published by the insider, the device will be based on the Snapdragon 765 processor with 5G support. It is likely that OnePlus originally planned to release a budget version of the flagship with the MediaTek chipset, but in the end, the plans changed for some unknown reason. Since the launch of the smartphone should take place only after two months, it should not be difficult for OnePlus to prepare the device on a new platform.
In any case, the refusal to use the Dimensity 1000, which boasts much greater performance compared to the Snapdragon 765, leaves a lot of questions. Will the new MediaTek processor repeat the fate of the Helio X30, which most vendors refused to use, due to its “gluttony”? Let’s hope it doesn’t. On paper, this chip looks pretty good.
However, most likely, the use of Qualcomm chipsets will play into the hands of OnePlus, because Snapdragon processors have gained a reputation as very productive and at the same time stable and energy-efficient platforms. Max J. previously predicted that the OnePlus Z would be presented in July. OnePlus has not said anything about it yet.
