5G is the next big step in telecommunications and OnePlus doesn’t seem to want to miss the train. The manufacturer, which stands out for its low-cost smartphones, but with superior functionality, wants to remain on the same line as rivals and offer users access at higher speeds.
To that end, OnePlus will invest $30 million to improve the research and development labs for 5G solutions. The investment will be made in areas such as radio frequency circuits, antennas, and multimedia, reports Cnet.
CEO Pete Lau assumed that “5G is a priority in our product strategy. We have been investing in 5G for years. And plan to launch application scenarios based on daily usage habits, such as cloud gaming, cloud videos, and cloud storage services ”.
The OnePlus 7 Pro was the first smartphone of the brand to have this type of technology. And it was launched in the summer. Things will change in 2020, with a series OnePlus 8 which will fully embrace the world of 5G. Also for the Lite model, whose launch could only take place after the two top models.
