CEO of OnePlus Pete Lau has already announced that the Chinese will launch its first smartwatch “in early 2021”, which may be called Oneplus Watch and the rumors about it have been around for a long time, now the Oneplus Watch seems to be finally developed and ready to go. The first certifications are already in place in India. Compliance with this legal procedure indicates that the launch of the OnePlus Watch is very close.
More important than that is the fact that the Indian agency BIS has endorsed two variants of this new gadget with code name W501GB and W301GB. This certification does not reveal to us what will really distinguish these versions, but there are some assumptions that we can make.
The most obvious will be the launch of this gadget with two-dimensional boxes. Additionally, this could be the indicator that the Chinese prepare different levels of connectivity for their first smartwatch. One of them will only have a Wi-Fi connection, while your partner will have support for LTE networks.
The latter would be the most interesting for everyone interested in the OnePlus Watch. More and more smartwatches are assuming greater independence from the smartphone and that would be a great asset for the Chinese product.
In terms of the design, You can’t see much in the sketches for the OnePlus Watch, especially since the design of the watch itself remains open. What is interesting, however, is the approach that the watch body itself should be exchangeable. So you can separate the actual watch from the bracelet.
This has the advantage that you don’t have to take off the strap to reload (which is often necessary), you just take the watch out of the frame and then charge it. This protects the locking mechanism of the bracelet and makes charging easier. If the company incorporates other such innovative approaches into the OnePlus Watch, you can definitely look forward to some interesting innovations – if the watch should really come on the market.
Liu Zuohu previously revealed that: “Wear OS definitely has room for improvement. We are trying to work with Google to improve the connectivity between Wear OS ecosystem, TV, and smartphones.” I believe OnePlus can Let Wear OS play better functions. It is expected that the OnePlus Watch will be officially unveiled at the OnePlus 9 series conference in March this year.
