After several weeks of speculation, the OnePlus TV has been formalized. The first incursion of OnePlus into the TV market is remarkable. The TV has a 55-inch screen in 4K resolution. Oneplus claims to have tweaked the QLED panel to get the best performance, including particularly vivid and vibrant colors. The OnePlus TV whose first image had leaked yesterday presents a “minimalist minimalist design” with a screen “almost without edges”.
As expected, one of the great things about OnePlus TV is its built-in soundbar. It features an eight-speaker system including two woofers for immersive sound with Dolby Atmos. The delivered power is 50W, all with a ” surround surrealist effect “. The soundbar has a sliding system comparable to the smartphone pop-up camera. In other words, it unfolds at the bottom of the TV and goes back inside when not in use.
There will be two versions of the TV: The OnePlus TV Q1 Pro equipped with a soundbar and the OnePlus TV Q1 standard which lacks one. The TV is compatible with Quantum Dot Color, Dolby Vision and HDR10 + technologies. It is also equipped with a custom chip doped with artificial intelligence, with specific algorithms for image processing.
The OnePlus TV runs Android TV with an interface inspired by Oxygen OS. The TV is compatible with Google Assistant, Google Cast, but also with Amazon Alexa . Two features have also been highlighted software level: Oxygen Play and OnePlus Connect. The first is an on-demand content platform, a kind of launcher bringing together in one place the content of different streaming services including YouTube. Netflix is not part of it yet, but the brand promises it will be available soon.
Finally, OnePlus Connect is a feature that creates a bridge between the TV and your smartphone. It allows you to control the OnePlus TV directly from the smartphone with low latency by using the phone’s screen as a touchpad. Even if a OnePlus smartphone will be enough to drive the OnePlus TV, the brand also launches a dedicated remote control, whose minimalist look is very close to that of the Apple TV.
OnePlus TV will be available initially in India. It is announced at the price of 69,900 INR ($987) and 99,900 INR ($1410) respectively for Q1 and Q1 Pro. Television is expected to arrive later in Europe and North America, according to the firm.
