The upcoming OnePlus 9 series is known to include two models, OnePlus 9 and OnePlus 9 Pro, but there have been persistent rumors of a lower-priced model in the series. Now, the rumor has been confirmed. Liu Zuohu, CEO of OnePlus Technology, said in an interview with foreign media that the company will launch the third model of OnePlus 9 series: OnePlus 9R.
It is understood that the OnePlus 9R is cheaper than the other two models in the series, and it has only been confirmed that it will be launched in India. According to Liu, the OnePlus 9R also supports 5G, hoping it will provide a “fast and smooth experience” for “big games.” He said the company wanted the phone to “go further” than the OnePlus Nord in terms of the technology and design involved.

Unfortunately, details of the OnePlus 9R’s configuration are not yet available. While the OnePlus 9R may be the most cost-effective model in the range, it looks more like a product that will move into the mid-market, based on what we have available. OnePlus 9R is expected to be powered by the Snapdragon 865 (the same as the flagship OnePlus 8 series of the previous generation), with a 90Hz screen and above. This will be a bit lower than OnePlus 9 and OnePlus 9 Pro(confirmed with the Snapdragon 888), but it’s in line with its positioning and fits the Indian market nicely.
