OnePlus has just released the current OnePlus 7T and the McLaren Edition, but of course, the company is already working on the devices that will come on the market next year.
Photos of an airport now show a new device bearing the OnePlus logo that could possibly be a trial for the upcoming OnePlus 8 (pro) models. If that’s the case, next year’s models will be quite different from today’s devices.
OnePlus does not seem to be relying on-camera pop-up technology in 2020 anymore. Instead, you can see on the front of the models a double opening in the display. The company seems to go the way of Samsung. The Samsung * Galaxy S10 models had just been falling worked with a punch-hole design and placed the cameras behind the display. That now seems to be planned for the OnePlus as well.
On the back, you can see the camera, which seems to be arranged slightly different than the current models. Unfortunately, it can hardly be deduced from which lenses are used and therefore remains the camera setup for the time being still hidden.
More interesting is the lettering in the lower part of the back. There is OnePlus, but there is also an addition that is difficult to decipher. But there seem to be two numbers or letters and that could stand for 5G. This indicates that there will be a 5G version of the models again in 2020, and that probably means that the devices in some versions continue to be without 5G (otherwise an extra designation would make little sense). The OnePlus 8 will probably not support 5G in all versions.
Overall, one should be careful with these hints. Not all features of test models come in the final version, so it remains unclear whether the upcoming OnePlus 8 will really have exactly this setup
