OnePlus has always had an excellent reputation among smartphone fans. If the brand is known for its muscular configurations at low prices, it has also been criticized at length for its photo quality often disappointing. The OnePlus 5 has been the phone to change this. With a score of 87 at DxOMark and a convincing evolution with the OnePlus 5T, it will finally be able to satisfy the amateurs of mobile photography. Does the OnePlus 6 bring about such a good evolution?
The OnePlus 6 is now eligible for the DxOMark test and score. The smartphone camera gets a rating of 96, which is fine without being exceptional for a device that claims to compete with the top of the range in terms of performance.
Almost two months after its release, DxOMark releases a test of the OnePlus 6 camera. It scores an overall score of 96. As promised, it is much better than the camera of the OnePlus 5, its predecessor, which had obtained the score of 87. But remains below competitors in the high-end segment. As a reminder, the Huawei P20 Pro and its triple photo sensor crushed everything in their path (109). The HTC U12 + (103) also made a strong impression, as did the standard P20 (102). The OP6 is also behind The Galaxy S9 +, the Xiaomi Mi 8, the Mate 10 Pro, the Mi Mi Mix 2s or the iPhone X.
In terms of video performance, the OnePlus 6 is said to have achieved a ‘very good score’ of 87 points. It scored great on parameters such as Exposure, Color, Autofocus, Noise, and Stabilization. Texture performance, in the video, was below average. On the positive side, DxOMark notes the presence of a very fast and accurate autofocus, an effective flash and a faithful reconstruction of colors and a good balance between details and noise. Side video, are highlighted the stabilization, the effective white balance and the preservation of details for the scenes despite a high contrast.

As always, we must remember that a photo benchmark has its limits. If in itself, the opinion of DxOMark is viable, let us not forget that a non-negligible part of the photo is purely subjective. Also, it is not an absolute and definitive classification. If you prefer the photos of another competitor or you find the photos of the OnePlus 6 much better, you are free to think: your opinion is also important. The photo benchmark especially notes that the latest device from the Chinese manufacturer offers one of the fastest autofocus on mobile, and bright and brilliant colors whatever the conditions. In the weak points, it evokes, in particular, a visible noise on the uniform areas, and a lack of detail in conditions too dark or on the contrary too bright.
