According to NewstalkzBNovember 13 news, researchers at the University of Auckland in New Zealand have expressed concern about the use of electronic cigarettes in New Zealand.
According to the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), New Zealand has the second highest proportion of regular e-cigarette users in the world among people aged 15 and over, behind Estonia.
In New Zealand, more than 8% of people in this age group regularly use e-cigarettes, with higher rates among teenagers.
Researcher Kelly Burrowes said a large number of New Zealand teenagers were attracted to e-cigarettes, with the surge in use exceeding that of other countries.
“In this age group, 18 percent of people are e-cigarette users, which is much higher than the 5 to 8 percent in the UK and Australia,” she noted.
