After the real flagship, the Red Magic 5G, Nubia also announced today a new smartphone more affordable gaming, the Nubia Play 5G, built around a panel AMOLED of 6.5 inches with a resolution Full HD + maintaining high refresh rate 144 Hz and 240 Hz touch sampling, making it the second smartphone on the market to do so.
Design
Particular the design of Nubia Play 5G, especially behind with a back cover that closely recalls the world of gaming with a particular finish and sharp lines that we also find in the forms of the camera module. In front, no notches and holes for a smartphone that instead prefers slightly thicker edges than the current canons, to mount sensors and front camera.
However, the dimensions of Nubia Play 5G are remarkable, with a height that touches 171.7 mm, a width of 78.5 mm and a thickness of 9.1 mm. The weight is 210 grams.
Specifications
The screen, for example, has almost the same characteristics as the latter: a 6.65-inch diagonal AMOLED panel with FullHD + resolution (1080 x 2340 pixels), DCI-P3 color gamut, a touch sampling rate of 240 Hz and, as anticipated, a display refresh rate of 144 Hz.
Under the body of Nubia Play 5G, there is room for the aforementioned Snapdragon 765G, Qualcomm chipset equipped with a 2.4 GHz octa-core CPU and an Adreno 620 GPU, in addition to the X52 modem for 5G networks. Next to it, we find 6 or 8GB of LPDDR4x RAM and 128 or 256GB of UFS 2.1 internal memory, depending on the configuration chosen.
Four rear cameras, with a 48MP Sony IMX582 sensor with f / 1.75 aperture and 0.8-micron pixel in control. An 8MP wide-angle sensor with a 120-degree field of view and a pair of 2MP f / 2.4 sensors complete the picture: one for macros, the other for depth calculation. In front, in the frame, there is instead a 12MP front camera.
For the rest, Nubia Play 5G has a fingerprint reader integrated into the display, 1217 speaker, dual SIM slots and level connectivity with 5G (SA / NSA), dual 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 ac dual-band, Bluetooth 5.0, dual-frequency GPS, GLONASS, BeiDou, NFC, and a USB C port, among other things. The battery, as anticipated, is huge, 5100mAh, compatible with the 30-watt fast charge.
For the rest, onboard Nubia Play 5G there is Android 10, clearly, customized with the proprietary Nubia UI 8.0 user interface, with wireless projection functions on the screen and other goodies dedicated to games.
Under the body, as proof of the fact that it is a smartphone that winks at the gamers, a specific cooling system, ICE2.5, which promises to be able to lower temperatures up to 16° when needed, that is in the sessions of gaming heavier for the processor, or in other cases.
Pricing and Availability
Nubia Play 5G is available in China in the colors black, blue and white in various memory configurations, in each case available for pre-order now, and coming on the native market since April 24, 2020.
The price of the 6GB / 128GB model is 2400 yuan ($339.38), and the price of the 8GB / 128GB model is 2700 yuan ($381), while Nubia Play 5G top model (8GB / 256GB) price is 3000 yuan (about $424).
