Today, Nubia presented a wearable smartphone. Yes, a smartphone that can be put on the wrist with a flexible display. It’s called Nubia-α and is clearly inspired by science-fiction films and TV series, as admitted by the same design team of this eccentric product.
Samsung has already been talking and showing at the industry fairs flexible screens for a possible future revolution in the field of smartphones, but apparently the Chinese Nubia has not waited, presenting at IFA 2018 this wearable smartphone that looks a bit like a smartwatch.
This is not a concept, the manufacturer intends to market this product by the end of the year. What first jumps to the eye is the large, indeed, long display owner that wraps and continues with a segmented strap: Nubia called it Flex, without too much imagination.
Nubia-α allows you to have all the essential functions of a smartphone , from web browsing to entertainment, from digital payments to physical activity monitoring.
Then there is a proximity sensor that automatically determines how to orient it, in this way it can be worn without distinction on both wrists. The manufacturer presents it as a “real” 4G smartphone also equipped with a camera, with the possibility of making even video calls.
Ni Fei, General Manager of Nubia Smartphone, said: ” We see the future of mobility as a large canvas to be painted to represent the best of design. Nubia-α provides the company’s innovative smartphone features and advanced photo features in a wearable format that raises the level of innovation and versatility for a mobile device.
For now, the details are poor: We do not know what type of processor mounts, who produces the display, which operating system supports and of course the price. It is worth noting that there is news that Nubia-α will be listed in the near future and will also land in the domestic market.
