According to the official website of the British North Lincolnshire government on August 10, in North Lincolnshire, unscrupulous retailers who illegally sell electronic cigarettes to children will face a high fine of up to 2,500 pounds, and this new regulation has been launched to protect minors.
Local authorities will launch a series of covert operations to monitor retailers in the area by sending teenagers into shops to buy e-cigarettes. E-cigarettes should only be sold to people over the age of 18. Anyone caught selling to children could be fined up to £2,500.
Rob Waltham, leader of North Lincolnshire Council, said it was important to ensure young people were healthy. While the evidence shows that e-cigarettes are safer than tobacco products, the sale of e-cigarettes to children and young people is unacceptable and will be cracked down on. Although many e-cigarettes taste tempting, they do contain nicotine. Nicotine is not the lethal part of tobacco smoke, but it is addictive.
In addition, the cost of irresponsibly discarding disposable e-cigarettes will increase. People caught littering in North Lincolnshire can be fined £150, with the limit set to rise to £500 in the coming weeks.
