A few days ago, we learned of the existence of a device identified as Nokia TA-1207. The rumors immediately indicated that it would be the supposed Nokia 1.3, but now new information emphasizes that it could actually be the Nokia 4.3. The information came after NokiaPowerUser discovered many similarities between the Nokia TA-1207 and Nokia 4.2 in certification.
According to the NPU report, the Nokia TA-1207 has a hardware version number of 89572_1_12, which in chronological order corresponds to the Nokia 4.2 hardware version number, which comes with a hardware version number of 89571_1_12.
While certification also confirms that the device will run on a Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, this does not mean the identity of the device. However, the NPU report also notes that both devices are the same sizes: Nokia TA-1207 has a height of 146.6 mm and a width of 70.5 mm, and Nokia 4.2 has a height of 148.9 mm and a width of 71.3 mm.
This suggests that HMD Global can offer the Nokia 4.3 smartphone with a slightly thinner body, which, in turn, can help make the device more slim overall. Nokia 4.2 was released in May 2019 with a 5.71-inch HD + display, Qualcomm Snapdragon 439 SoC and a choice between 2GB or 3GB of RAM and 16GB or 32GB of memory.
It has a dual rear camera with a 13MP main module and a 2MP auxiliary depth module. Ahead, at the top of the display, there is a gutter notch, which housed an 8MP front camera and a 3000mAh battery. Other features included a rear physical fingerprint sensor and microUSB connectivity with USB OTG support.
Nokia 4.3 is expected to keep the device’s budgetary guidelines while improving certain features. The NPU report also noted that the Nokia TA-1207 has the same battery capacity as the Nokia 4.2, further reinforcing the claim that it is the successor to the latter.
HMD Global, as a rule, announces a bunch of its new phones at Mobile World Congress, and with the release of MWC 2020 next month, it will be interesting to see if Nokia 4.3 is released at this event. A budget smartphone can differ in design and improved internal components to offer a more attractive package in the competitive market of budget smartphones.
