At the recent HMD Global conference, we were able to watch the premiere of their latest device – Nokia 7.1. It did not take long, and information about the successor, Nokia 8.1 appeared on the internet.
The new Nokia 8.1 has been spotted by Internet users in the database of one of the most popular applications for benchmarking mobile devices. Along with the name, via Geekbench, we also received part of the specifications of the new handset. I am talking about SoC, RAM and the Android version.
According to the Geekbench list, Nokia 8.1 is equipped with 8-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 710 clocked at 1.71GHz, combined with 4GB of RAM and the latest Android 9 Pie. In the single-core test, Nokia 8.1 scored 1841 points on the Geekbench, and multiple scored is 5807 points.
The Nokia 8.1 running Android 9 is not surprising as HMD Global released the Nokia 7.1 Plus recently installed Android 9 Pie (included in the Android One project ).
Most Nokia smartphones now run on pure Android operating systems (stock ROM Android). This allows Google and HMD Global to quickly deploy security updates and the latest Android version to the device without having to spend extra time customizing the look and feel of other OEMs. Whether there will be any differences to the 7.1 plus, HMD should tell us then sometime in the coming months. So far, there are still no signs of an upcoming event, but this can change quickly.
