My Treatment
The reality turned out to be quite different. The cost was less than I expected.It was possible to do a detox at home. It is also a fortunate thing that I can recommend an online rehab with online suboxone doctors to help people who suffer from opioid addiction. At the beginning, it sounded exactly like what I wanted seeing a therapist in the center a couple of times a week. I am really grateful to Serenity that they convinced me to spend three weeks in their hotel-like clinic. It required a lot of effort to make this time available for me. The withdrawal symptoms were not too severe. I liked the advice on physical exercise and the outdoor activities the center offered. But I felt as if I am not as free as I normally am, and it did not felt right. When therapy started, it was agony. I realized that spending my evenings on my own with a bottle of wine is not exactly how I want to live my life. When the way I was treated by my family of origin came to light, as well as the drinking problems my dad had, I got really worried. Talking to other patients and listening to their stories at group sessions helped a lot. I tried yoga and mindfulness classes, and keep practicing both after leaving the rehab.
I am back to my usual life now, but to an extent, it is completely different. I am in a year aftercare program. I know I want a better life than I had and thank Serenity for helping me start building it!
