Yesterday, Qualcomm announced the new Snapdragon 870 processor. The statement revealed that among the manufacturers who will adopt the new chipset first there will also be the giant of the winged house Motorola. Now, it has been confirmed that the Motorola Edge S flagship will be powered by the aforementioned processor and will be officially unveiled on January 26th.
The Edge S is the first flagship phone of the telephony OEM for 2021 and is the first flagship to arrive in China in several years. In fact, it’s been a long time since the company announced a premium product for the Asian market.
We know that the official Lenovo China account on Weibo has just stated that this will also be the first terminal in the world to be powered by the Snapdragon 870. The chipset is a 7nm SoC with a clock speed of 3.2 GHz. In a nutshell, it would be an overclocked version of the Snapdragon 865 Plus, which, in turn, is an overclocked version of the Snapdragon 865.
It has been reported that the device will feature a 6.7-inch display with an FHD + resolution, two holes in the screen for the two front cameras, and an unusual 105Hz refresh rate. The chipset is expected to be paired with 8GB or 12GB of RAM and be available in multiple storage options.
It was also revealed that the smartphone boasts a photographic system consisting of four lenses, with the main one having a resolution of 64MP, combined with a 16MP ultra-wide, an 8MP telephoto, and an auxiliary sensor from 2MP.
On the side frame, there should be a fingerprint scanner, while under the body there would be a 5000mAh battery. There is no information regarding fast charging technology. However, we expect the phone to run the “ out-of-the-box ” Android 11-based ZUI skin.
At the moment, we don’t know if the device will have a global release, but there is a possibility that if it does, it will arrive within the “ Moto G “ series. Motorola announced last month that it has a Moto G device powered by the Snapdragon bXX series expected for the global market: is it likely to be the Edge S.
