Yesterday Xiaomi officially confirms that they will release Xiaomi MI6 smartphone on April 19, and then there are new functions spotted on the Internet about MIUI 9.
According to images, we can see MIUI 9 will add new functions like split-screen mode and Picture in Picture mode, right now split-screen function has been used on most large smartphones, but MIUI has not used it until now. PIP function also is very practical which makes users watch the videos with small window to show on the desktop. So we can watch videos while doing other operation.
Here is the content of the letter from Xiaomi official to the developers.
Dear developer,
MIUI next version will introduce two new functions, split screen and PIP. Here are some suggestions for your developers.
1.MIUI split screen mode optimizes based on Android7.0 OS, so developers only develops for compatibility according to Android standard ports,no need for duplicated compatibility work for MIUI.
2.In order to improve the utility of split screen mode, developers need to do compatibility and optimization work according to different degree.
3.In order to make users use the split-screen mode, and improve developers compatibility interest, MIUI will try split screen mode to move to Android6.0. So there will be a lot of devices to support split screen.
PIP compatibility advice as follows:
1.MIUI PIP performance: support floating to the top, support sliding to change the place, support clicking operation.
2.MIUI PIP mode is based on Android 7.0 TV mode, so it takes to be compatible with Android O PIP mode.
3.PIP mode develops at lower cost and better stability compared with floating window mode.
We believe video watching will become the main operation for most users with large screen smartphones become more popular, Split-screen mode and PIP mode will become the basic functions for those big brands of smartphones. Hope developers can take advantage of Android to provide new ability for better user experience.
