Hello everyone! Today, the MIUI development team release the MIUI 9 8.5.3 developer version update for Xiaomi Mi 5. The most important change of the new system is to upgrade to Android 8.0 Oreo. The update package size is 1.5GB. You can also download the complete package for upgrading from MIUI forum.
The Google’s Android Oreo 8.0 OS was launched in 2017 and its focus is on the battery life, speed, and security. It allows users to better control various applications and increase restrictions on the operation of the App in the background. This restriction somewhat extends the battery life of the Android device in sleep mode.
It allows apps that are not in use to go to sleep and wake up when they are in use. Its purpose is to reduce the power consumption of background applications without uninstalling the program or changing the user’s usage needs. At the same time, this restriction on background applications will also speed up the operation.

Here we need to remind everyone that installing an app that can modify ROOT may cause the Smartphone to restart. Before upgrading, be sure to backup all your important data to the Xiaomi cloud service or local computer. If you use an application that modifies the ROOT and encounters a reboot, try clearing all your data.
