Soon after Xiaomi reveals a more detailed timeline along with a list of devices that will surely have the latest MIUI 10, the company has released the Global Beta software for their top, middle and entry-level phones for the past two years. The MIUI 10 was announced alongside the Mi 8 but the global version of the software was announced with Redmi S2 in India.
Most of the Xiaomi phones in China have already started receiving the new Beta versions of Miui, but yesterday the company released the Global version for eight of their phones. As you’ve guessed, MIUI 10 Global comes with the usual Google Play services and is called ROM Global Beta 8.7.5.
Here is a list of devices that can be updated:
- Mi 5
- Mi 6
- Mi Mix
- Mi Mix 2
- Mi Mix 2S
- Redmi S2 (Indian version of Redmi Y2)
- Redmi Note 5 / Note 5 Pro
- Mi Note 2
Firmware for one of the above gadgets can be downloaded at the official MIUI forum. Users of devices with MIUI 9 Global Beta will get a new version of the firmware “by air”. To upgrade from a stable version of MIUI 7, 8 or 9, you will need to use fastboot. In any case, do not forget to backup your data.
One of the main features of the MIUI 10 new Global Beta ROM version 8.7.5 is that it includes LDAC for Bluetooth devices. But it is important to note that this feature is not intrinsic to MIUI 10, but instead, Xiaomi promises that all of its devices running Android Oreo will receive support for LDAC.
For those who do not know, LDAC improves the quality of the audio transmitted via Bluetooth. It is developed by Sony and has a bit rate higher than normal – 990 kbps. However, you will not be able to benefit from it if you are not transmitting lossless audio, such as FLAC. And headphones also need to support LDAC streaming.
