The resignation of Panos Panay has made the future of Microsoft Surface full of many uncertain factors, making many loyal fans worry that Surface will gradually disappear like Windows Phone.
Microsoft has publicly emphasized that Panai’s departure will not affect the future vision and development of Surface. But overall, Microsoft has started to streamline the Surface product line, and we don’t see much of the Surface team in the coming 2023.
Microsoft updated the Surface Hub, Surface Laptop Studio, Surface Laptop Go, and Surface Go series in 2023, but the upgrades were small and the price increased across the board.
According to foreign technology media Windows Central reports, Microsoft is redesigning the Surface Pro and Surface Laptop series, using Intel 14th generation and Qualcomm X series processors, and focusing on integrating AI elements, Igeekphone attached relevant content as follows:
Intel and ARM are developing together, but they are more focused on promoting ARM
Microsoft plans to offer Intel and ARM versions in the new Surface Pro and Surface Laptop lines, both with next-generation neural processing unit (NPU) processors.
It is reported that Microsoft will customize a new processor named “CADMUS” on the Snapdragon X series processor, and is equipped with a new version of Windows system code-named Hudson Valley, which will more deeply integrate various AI functions.
With “CADMUS,” Microsoft hopes to compete with Apple’s Apple Silicon chips with similar battery life, performance and security.
Surface Laptop 6
Microsoft has finally redesigned the Surface Laptop line with narrower bezels, rounded edges and more ports, the first redesign since Microsoft introduced the line.
The Surface Laptop 6 will also come in two sizes, 13.8-inch and 15-inch.
The Surface Laptop 6 will also have more ports, including two USB-C ports and one USB-A port, as well as a magnetic Surface Connect charging port.
Microsoft will also add a tactile trackpad (likely with Sensel technology) and a dedicated Copilot button for quick access to Windows Copilot.
Overall, the Surface Laptop 6 is shaping up to be a major refresh of the lineup, designed to compete head-on with the MacBook Air.
Surface Laptop Go
Sources say that Microsoft is also working on a new Surface Laptop Go, but there is no information about it yet.
