Meizu was once one of the most famous and popular manufacturers of smartphones. The company has had many popular models, but in recent years it has failed to build a decent global strategy, such as Xiaomi, Huawei, OPPO, and Vivo. The Meizu 16T series came out at the end of 2019, and since then – silence. But other than that, the company has one of the worst support programs. It was recently promised to release Flyme OS based on Android 10 for some of its devices. But the owners of Meizu X8 and Note 8 will not get it.
Today, the Chinese company has announced that it will stop developing for these two smartphones. While some companies are busy announcing and trying to implement Android 11 updates, Meizu is unable to ensure the er development of Android 10 for its two most popular devices in recent years.
These mid-range devices were announced in 2018. They came with Android 8 Oreo, and a few months ago Meizu announced that the models will receive an update to Android 10. It was a big surprise – a big update to Android for a smartphone two years ago. But now it is useless to hope.
The manufacturer claims that the development of Android 10 has led to many problems, such as the loss of IMEI and the main frequency band. The Bluetooth and fingerprint scanner also failed. Not to mention a number of system stability issues found on both devices.
A stable version of the firmware based on Android 10 will never come out. But the company is releasing a new stable update, Flyme 8.1.5.0A, for beta testers to fix these issues and get the phones back up and running.
