A few days ago, Lu Weibing, general manager of Redmi Redmi brand, officially announced that Redmi K40 series will be released next month, equipped with Snapdragon 888, the price starts from 2999 yuan.
This morning, Lu Weibing again issued the article said: ” K30 supreme edition carrying Dimensity 1000+ is extremely popular, it has also entered the end stage before releasing. New Dimensity flagship chip coming soon in 2021″
The comments seem to imply that the new Redmi will be powered by MediaTek’s next-generation flagship processor.
As usual, there will be at least two models in the Redmi K40 series, with the Redmi K40 Pro as the flagship and powered by Snapdragon 888 processor, while the Redmi K40 is likely to be powered by MediaTek Dimensity processor.
According to the previous news, MediaTek will release the 5G SoC specific model MT6893, officially named as the Dimensity 1200.
The Dimensity 1200 chip is built using a 6nm process and uses ARM’s latest Cortex A78 architecture, consisting of four Cortex A78 plus four Cortex A55, with a Mali-G77 GPU.
This is also the world’s first 6nm A78 chip. At present, this chip has achieved more than 620,000 points on Antutu platform, which has surpassed the Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 processor released last year.
MediaTek will officially launch this new Dimensity chip on January 20, which is officially described as a new product, superior technology and upgraded experience.
