Today, according to 91Mobile reports, Lenovo seems to have found a new way to have a notch for a selfie camera on a smartphone that doesn’t involve a display. Lenovo has filed a patent with China’s State Intellectual Property Office (CNIPA) that shows a reverse notch design that can be implemented on smartphones.
It should be noted that the patent does not mean that there will be mass production of related models. Judging from the currently released Smartphones, this comprehensive screen solution will most likely stay in the patent stage, and the possibility of commercial use is unlikely.
It is worth mentioning that since 2020, the Punch-Hole screen has become the industry benchmark, except for some gaming phones that adhere to the symmetrical full-screen solution without Notch and Punch-Holes (like the Black Shark 3 series, Nubia Red Magic 5G), Most models are in the form of Punch-hole, like Galaxy S20 series, P40 series, Xiaomi Mi 10 series and so on.
At present, the industry is aggressively advancing the mass production and commercial use of under-screen cameras. There are reports that it will be seen in the second half of the year.
However, it should be noted that the current off-screen camera solution needs to be achieved by reducing the local ppi of the screen, which looks like the feeling of pixel damage in that area. While the off-screen camera has a great influence on camera imaging. So even if it can be mass-produced and commercial, but the initial plan may not be perfect.
