Lenovo entered the gaming smartphone market by launching the Legion Phone Pro/Legion Phone Duel last year. This year, the company followed up with the Legion Phone 2 Pro aka Legion Phone Duel 2. It has now revealed details of its successor that will launch on the Lenovo Legion Phone 3 Pro.
General Manager of Lenovo China Mobile Division, Chen Jin, posted on Weibo to talk about Qualcomm’s upcoming processor with serial number SM8450. Several reports have revealed that they will launch as Snapdragon 898.
In the post mentioning that this chipset powering the Lenovo Legion Phone 3 Pro will bring a new flagship GPU with significantly improved performance. Jin also claims that the flagship phone will feature industry-leading fine-tuned performance.
Jin also took the opportunity to market the Legion Phone 2 Pro. He mentioned that now the phones armed with Snapdragon 888 are getting discounted prices and are worth buying.
It’s also worth noting that it doesn’t appear that Lenovo is planning to launch another gaming phone this year even though its competitors are planning for it or have even launched a fresh model powered by the Snapdragon 888 Plus processor.
The Snapdragon 898 will launch at the end of the year with Qualcomm’s previous announcement. The chipset should be announced at Qualcomm’s Annual meeting and if all goes well, the market might even see the first smartphone powered by the processor announced before the year ends.
