Last September, Kodak has released a 4K 360 degree camera, called Pixpro 4KVR360, but as for its avaliablity date and price, they have not confirmed. Right now at CES 2017, Kodak officially announced it will sell at $499 and be available in January.
Although the previous Pixpro 360 and the first Pixpro SP360 4K action camera has been loved due to its simplicity, but the image quality is not outstanding, the biggest reason is that these cameras only use the single lens and sensor to take 360 degree photos. The new Pixpro Orbit 4K VR 360 can take 4K photos with more efficient dual lens setting.
By two lens and two 20MP sensor, the new PixPro 4KVR360 can take 360 videos and static images.Although 4K includes 8MP 1:1 width to height ratio, not the standard 4K, dual lens and sensors can bring better image quality than the previous single lens.
There are two 4K focus lens on the two sides of PixPro 4KVR360 to capture the complete 360 degree 4K video, and the Smart Device app can upload the photos to facebook and youtube. It is also equipped with Wifi, NFC and Bluetooth to connect, it is compatible with 20MP CMOS sensor and Micro SD card, up to 128GB. In addition, Kodak has added PixPro editing software and Stitching software to support Mac and PC.
Although 360 degree function has been popular soon, there are few good devices to choose on the current market, at least compare with traditional cameras, it is the truth. Even so, Kodak 360 degree cameras also face big challenge, including single lens camera such as 360Fly and dual lens camers such as Samsung Gear 360 and Nikon Keymission 360, but Kodak still has a long road to take.
