Recently, an analyst released a report stating that Apple’s iPhone 17 Pro series models to be launched in 2025, It will be equipped with a self-designed Wi-Fi 7 chip.
Currently, the Wi-Fi chips and Bluetooth chips for Apple mobile phones are provided by Broadcom. Analysts believe that Apple’s move is mainly to get rid of its dependence on Broadcom.
The analyst said that Apple will only use self-developed Wi-Fi chips on the iPhone 17 Pro series models initially, and will not expand self-developed Wi-Fi chips to the entire iPhone 18 series until 2026.
In January this year, Gurman said that Apple plans to phase out Broadcom’s Wi-Fi and Bluetooth chips in 2025. Switch to use your chip design.
Next year’s iPhone 16 Pro models will also support Wi-Fi 7 technology, but they will still use Broadcom chips. Wi-Fi 7 will allow the iPhone 16 Pro to send and receive data through the 2.4GHz, 5GHz, and 6GHz frequency bands at the same time.
This enables faster Wi-Fi speeds, lower latency, and more reliable connections, with peak speeds exceeding 40Gbps,4 higher than the Wi-Fi 6E standard times.
