A recent leak shared by Twitter user @MajinBuOfficial on April 8 showcases Apple’s rumored iPhone 17 Air, highlighting its design and specifications through comparative images with the iPhone 16 e (7.80mm thick). The prototype images suggest a departure from Apple’s traditional aesthetics, adopting a streamlined design reminiscent of Google’s Pixel series. Key features include an ultra-thin 5.5mm chassis (9.5mm including the 4mm camera bump), a single rear camera within an elongated horizontal module, and dual side buttons for camera controls.
Industry analyst Ming-Chi Kuo corroborates these dimensions, noting that the iPhone 17 Air’s total thickness would surpass the 8.25mm profile of the current iPhone 16 Pro Max (excluding its camera bump), positioning the Air as a notably slimmer alternative if Pro Max models retain their size.
Case renders further reveal a continuous horizontal camera bar spanning the device’s width—a stark shift from Apple’s iconic rounded-square camera islands. The lens and flash are asymmetrically positioned, with the camera on the left and the flash on the right, maintaining a minimalist aesthetic.
Reported specs include a 6.6-inch 120Hz ProMotion display, a standard A19 chip (non-Pro variant), and Apple’s in-house C1 baseband chip for enhanced connectivity. This redesign signals Apple’s potential pivot toward blending its signature simplicity with elements inspired by competing flagship designs.
