The latest news on the upcoming iPhone 15 Pro series has been making rounds in the foreign media lately. Based on information sources, details given by MFi accessory manufacturers, and CAD data, foreign media have come up with a new rendering of the iPhone 15 Pro series that has two significant changes from the previous renderings. Reports suggest that the new iPhone 15 series, especially the iPhone 15 Pro series models, will most likely use solid-state touch buttons, which is a departure from the physical mute button that has been present since the inception of the iPhone. Both the mute button and the power button will adopt a solid-state design, similar to the non-pressable Home button that first appeared on the iPhone 7. These two buttons can’t really move, but simulate the feeling of pressing through the two built-in Taptic Engine motors.
In a letter to shareholders, the company hinted that it expects to launch a new HPMS component in smartphones this year. HPMS refers to the company’s high-performance mixed-signal chips, which include the Taptic Engine’s haptic driver in the iPhone. During the earnings call with analysts, the company’s CEO narrowed the time frame for new component launches to the second half of this year, roughly in line with Apple’s usual release schedule, around September and October.
However, well-known analyst Ming-Chi Kuo later revealed that Apple has canceled the design and will return to the original physical buttons. According to the latest survey, due to technical problems that could not be overcome before mass production, the two high-end iPhone 15 Pro series will cancel the solid-state button design that the market has paid close attention to and change back to the original physical button design.
Despite this setback, reports suggest that the iPhone 15 series will use a titanium alloy body and replace the existing straight-edge design with a curved back frame. The back border will be rounded, which will be more rounded than the current design on the iPhone 14. Although it is reported that the iPhone 15 will be made of titanium alloy, the back will still be made of glass.
The iPhone 15 Pro series will be different from the normal version, both in terms of design and hardware stacking, which will greatly affect the final choice of consumers. Judging from the current information, the iPhone 15 Pro series obviously has more changes, and the focus of user selection this year will also be on Apple’s high-end series.
In conclusion, the iPhone 15 Pro series has been the talk of the town lately, with several changes expected from previous models. The solid-state touch buttons were highly anticipated, but the cancellation of the design has left many disappointed. However, the curved back frame, titanium alloy body, and rounded back border are welcome changes that will attract many consumers. With the release of the iPhone 15 Pro series expected later this year, Apple fans eagerly await the latest offering from the tech giant.
