Seoul: South Korea plans to launch sixth-generation (6G) network services in 2028, two years ahead of schedule, to secure early dominance in future wireless frequencies, the Ministry of Science and Information and Communications Technology said on Monday.
Under the “K-Network 2030” plan, the South Korean government will bring forward the launch of commercial 6G network services by two years by securing world-class 6G technology, innovating software-based next-generation mobile networks and strengthening the network supply chain, the ministry said.
In fact, many countries are also actively following 6G networks, and important progress has been made in the research of key technologies such as 6G super-large scale MIMO, terahertz communication, synaesthesia, endogenous AI communication, deterministic network, and space-earth integration network.
Starting from February 1, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology will optimize and adjust the frequency of microwave communication systems to further meet the needs of 5G base stations and other high-capacity information transmission (microwave back transmission) scenarios, and reserve spectrum resources for China’s 5G, industrial Internet and future 6G.
What has changed about the 6G era network? The official wechat account of China Telecom has made popular science before, if 2G network is ox cart, 3G network is bicycle, 4G network is car, 5G network is high-speed rail, then 6G is airplane.
